man guys i just gott back from the pawn shop where my friend is a manager, i went in there just to look and im sure that you guys can relate to telling your wife its just to look lol, i set up alot of guitars for them that come in and have problems so ontop of my best friend working there i get awesome deals, anyway they just bought a ibanez its florecent pink its not a gem but i looked at a gem 777 and it has the same pickguard and the same floyd rose and the same neck minus the pyramid fret markers, it dont have the handle in the body oh and it does have a maple neck, but the weird thing is there is no model number anywhere on it, just says ibanez on the neck and on the neck plate, the electronics were replaced with emgs it has two double coils one at the bridge and one at the neck and a single coil in the middle just like the gem, and it is the same color as the hot pink gem 777, whoever wired the pickups didnt know what the heck they were doing because the only one that was working was the bridge so i fixed all that.they had the floyd rose pulled tight against the body instead of floating so i changed the strings and set it up realy good and it plays better than my new rg570 i just gott. im gonna try and find a new pickguard for it becaus ethe kid that had it put a hustler sticker on it and took a razor and carved around the sticker so to imprint hustler into the pickguard im hoping i can find one with some of the gem 777 florecent green pickups already wired in it.
the best part is i only paid what they paid for it 35 bucks and it came with a hardshell case, but what i was wondering does anyone have any idea what model this thing could be? i dont have any pictures to put up because my batteries died in my digi camera but i will put some up soon. also does anyone know where i can buy the pickguard and green gem pickups used or new dont matter. my friend is gonna make me some graphix that look like the yellow and green pyramids to put for fret markers for looks. but hey for 35 bucks who the heck can complain. thanks for reading. god bless flash the picture i ahve here is a picture of the gem it looks like or should i say is set up like.

Wow...

...that is the ugliest guitar i've ever seen.

thats the thing with the color pink dude you either like it or you dont, that was the fad in the late 80s early 90s, so im guessing this guitar is from that era.im realy not saying that pink is my fav color but all those great guitarist from that era was playing them lol, adrian vandenberg, steve vai, george lynch even had a pink guitar, cc-deville. loved that 80s stuff.

thanks it may be a rg-550 and as i remember it wasnt that guitar from like 1990 or around that time?

35 bucks?... geez... the case is probably worth more than that... If it plays good and sounds good, its all good...

:p

At only thirty five bucks, I love the color pink! :D

Great deal!

$35?????

Sheesh man, you can say you got it for free.
Put on some shades and the pink won't bother you.

Good deal Flash!!!!

yeah it plays tottaly better than any other guitar i own that is after i spent the whole day setting it up,its gott the floyd rose edge tremelo on it which is worth alot more than that, its gott emg pickups which i dont like lol, and from what ive read and the pics ive compared to online it has a wizrd 2 neck which was what the jem had back then. tottaly amazed at how cheap i gott it lol.
it certainly pays to know people in high places where theres guitars for sale lol.

nice score. those were the shit back in the day. steve vai blah blah blah.

can anyone help me out to find some jem green pickups and maybe a jem pickguard, like i said used or new doesnt matter to me, im still searching the web and cant find any for sale, ive also been trying to find a pic of one like this but there are none. ill keep trying. and yeah these were the hot in the 90s lol. i couldnt resist buying considering my daughter is getting ready to start playing guitar and being responsible enough to own her own and hey the color is certainly wright lol.

similar but it dont have the lightning bolt fret markers which is to bad thats kinda cool, and it has metal volume and tone nobs like my rg-570 has. thanks for the links.

Back then, the Jems had Dimarzio PAF Pro's at bridge and neck, with a 'Jem' single coil in the middle.

The HS2 is the closest that Dimarzio made to the 'Jem' single, for the public.

You can get Dimarzio's on-line at a lot of retailers. I've had good luck with musiciansfriend.com .

You could get a new pickguard from Jeaniespickguards.com (sp?).

As for knobs, wdmusicproducts.com sells strat knobs in lots of colors.

I don't really dig pink, but that's a great guitar.

'87/'88 for the pink ones. Maybe as late as '89.
