EVERYONE,THIS IS A GREAT SIGHT IM GLAD I FOUND IT.I AM REALLY A NOVICE AT THIS RECORDING THING SO I WILL PROBABLY DRIVE YOU GUYS NUTS WITH MY QUESTIONS.THE QUESTION I HAVE TODAY IS THIS.I HAVE AROUND 6 COMPLETE SONGS AND I HAVE DELETED ALL OF MY UNUSED PARTS BUT NOW IT SAYS IM OUT OF DISK SPACE.HOW DO YOU MOVE THESE TO A DIFFERENT PARTITION TO FREE UP SPACE.WOULD I BE BETTER OFF MOVING THOSE SONGS TO A CDR AND GETTING THEM OFF THE BOARD COMPLETELY.I MAY WANT TO ADD SOME THING ON THOSE SONGS LATER BUT FOR NOW I WANT TO START RECORDING NEW SONGS.ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS ALL
SMITH KI

first, stop yelling. now, tell some of the experts here what you are recording on.

LEARN TO RELEASE THE CAP-LOCK BUTTON ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND WE WILL CONSIDER ANSWERING YOUR INQUIRERS.

If you're using a 788, go to MENU>DISK>SELECT and choose a different partition to record your new songs on.

IF YOU'RE RECORDING ON SOMETHING ELSE, SPEAK UP!

What I do is save entire edited sessions as new files on my D drive and then erase the old audio folder. The folder sill contain all files and unused scraps of info. I suggest backing up sessions on CDR and erasing all audio files from your drive. Then you can load projects one at a time to do work.

...or you could get a bigger drive....but that's probably too simple.

If you are talking about a 788 then it's a 4 gig partition which to me seems to be pretty hard to fill up with 6 songs (normal length) and 8 tracks. Do you have a lot of virtual tracks?

sorry guys, didnt realize i didnt tell you that i had a 788.i just need to know how i can dump the songs i have recorded to another partition or would it be best to start recording on another partition.

Go ahead a record on a different partition. You can use any partition at anytime...and your default partition will be the one you were in when you shut down. If you haven't, upgrade to version 2.02.

thanks alot for the info,i have not as yet upgraded to 2.02 but i will in the future.as i understand what you are saying is that i need first to go in and choose the partition that i want to record on.so far i have recorded everything on the defualt one that came up when i got the machine.i have filled that one up because it says i am out of disk space,so i guess what i need to do is choose another partition and record on that one.i will try that if thats what you are saying, thanks again.
