is it possible to patent your own genre of music? i mean like you come up with a name of the music, and set certain parameters, and people want to be a part of it, and they want to fall under the category.

or is this unreal?

thanks

uuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............. Although I can't say I'm an expert on the patent laws but I do believe it would be unrealistic....... .... I may be wrong but from what I recall you can only patent 4 things....(1) a machine (2) a process (3) an invention (4) or a form of matter;;;;;;;; I could definately rule out 1&4...a process or an invention I guess would be sketchy....

IF you could patent a genre I could right away see flaws with it...

NUMERO UNO - Music is freedom of speech protected by our constitution so no one person could dictate what can or cannot be done...................

NUMERO TWO: Who the hell would want to be a part of it if 1 person owned the music

NUMERO THREE: they could just call it something else....and you would have the burden of proof that it was actually your patented style.....which would not be easy

NUMERO FOUR: It would take a hell of alotta money to market something like that and in turn hope it catches on

NUMERO FIVE: It would only be patented in the US
