Patchbay or Corridor set in the wall

I am about construct my wall between the control room and the studio and need a patch bay to run a few XLR (Mackie 1402 board). I also need to run a few 1394 IEEE (fire wire) cables for web casting. The last studio I was with, we bored a hole in the bottom corner area of the floor with a PVC corridor. Should I go with a corridor approach? I need something cleaner and more professional looking this time. Also, I have very little experience with wiring/soldering patch bay connections. Ok, I have no experience actually wiring patch bay connections. Please keep in mind that the studio is sound treated, not soundproof.

I personally like the corridor approach--but then again I'm not going for great aesthetics (I stuck a couple of 4-in diam. cleanouts through my walls). The benefit is you can route anything you want through there and not have to worry about having the right connections hardwired in when you build the place.

True, I thought about building separate boxes (XLR, RCA, 1394 IEEE, etc.) and checked out hte XLR wall plate thread, but I didn't want 5 different boxes turning in spagetti. I thought about pre ordering a box with multiple connectors but golly that will get pricing. Does anyone know where to buy these "corridors" or is it a fabrication item?
