I am new to recording and trying to connect equipment I have acquired. Is there a "best way" to configure my patch bay? I have a Behringer PX2000. Other equipment is as follows:

Tascam 22-4 reel
Tascam M-106 mixer
Fostex VF-08
Teac A-2000 stereo reel
Dual C-809 cassette
Teac dual bay CD
ART FX-1
Behringer DSP110

The PX2000 is divided into two sections on the face panel. I was contemplating "ins" on one side & "outs" on the other (switched to "open"). Any input will be appreciated...THANKS!!!

"Standard" multi-track configuration is as follows...

PB1 (or subsection of a single PB)
Top row - "hard-wired" sound sources
Bottom-row - Mixer channel inputs
(top is normalled to bottom)

PB2 (or subsection)
Top-row - Mixer Insert SENDS
Bottom-row - Mixer Insert RETURNS
(top is normalled to bottom)

PB3 (or subsection)
Top-row - Mixer BUSS OUTS
Bottom-row - Multi-track INPUTS
(top is normalled to bottom)

PB4 (or subsection)
Top-row - Multi-track OUTPUTS
Bottom-row - Mixer multi-track returns
(top is normalled to bottom)

Thanks Blue Bear!! So, do you think at least one more patch bay is in order to keep things from getting ugly??

Well... it depends on your situation....

In my studio I have 9 48-point PBs to accommodate my multitrack configuration and outboard stuff....!

I took off my shoes so I could count ins/outs, but I ran out of toes!!!

I think the creekster was talking about YOUR setup bear - and BTW, creekster, that's 432 points if they're all filled... Steve
