hi, i've just gotten my first rack in the mail (Quik Lok RS (954, looks spindly but isnt' really), and i also purchased 2 patchbays. One's a behringer, one's made by Re-An... And i realized just how much cable i was going to need to hook up all my gear. The most moderate count was 78, the most elaborate set-up would require almost 100 cables.

And of course i need patchbay cables, so i was wondering if i could use the patchbay cables to hook up all my gear to the patchbays in the back. I mean, they're standard cables (i'm going to be using all stereo cables, just to reduce noise and because some of my gear uses balanced cables) and unless there is a huge difference between normal patch cables and patchBAY cables, this is how i was planning on wiring everything.

Does anybody have any warnings against this? Will the sound quality be okay?

Thanks very much

They are all the same. There is no difference between patch cables and patchbay cables. Get balanced ones, you might save some money by getting balanced cables only for you balanced connections, but as soon as you replace something in your rack, you will be buying more cables.
