Sup erybody? I was just wonderin if someone could please tell me what instrument or synth is used for the string melody in Pastor Troy's "Vice Versa". Or just tell me what it is and I'll play it live. I been searchin for about a week now and I ain't found anything close. That sound is tha missin piece to a Monster track I'm producin for some catz down here in tha ATL. Soundfonts, samples, patches....... any info ya got would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a good bar chimes soundfont, preset, patch, etc...I'll call u tha Man from now on.

If you mean the "main" sound in the melody, its pretty much an electric guitar. It prolly had a bit of processing done to it so it will take a bit of tweaking to get closer to that sound using a preset. I haven't heard that song in about two years so my memory of it isn't crystal clear.

Thankz

I appreciate u taking the time to respond. That's what I thought it was but now I'm not so sure. I've gone through every Slayer preset, every soundfont imaginable, different samples, different settings, tried playin it live with numerous electric guitars even, but the sound just hasn't been there. Like I've said, I've spent a week tryin to achieve this exact sound. Now I'm going through all the harp samples I can get my hands on. If u could though, please take a listen to "Vice Versa" and tell me whatcha think. Cause I'm stumped.

i think its an electric guitar too. isnt there a part where its solod that u can sample. i havent heard it in a while either, but it isone of my favorite songs

Tried That Too

Oh yeah, that route has been exhausted. I tried every part of the song that would've worked but....1. The song starts off in full swing. there's no intro. The only thing not present is the drum pattern. 2.Those damned bells are everywhere. 3. The Electric guitar is all over tha place. I chopped it up so many times it's ridiculous. I got it down to an almost nonexistant ringing of the bells and the bassline gone, but by that time it had lost the richness I'm lookin for. And now I'm back to lookin for string sounds to manipulate. Oh yeah and when I tried to sample the sound it was with the instumental so vocals weren't a problem. I'm about to have to just live with the beat I'm makin as it is.......

I took a listen this morning. U should be able to get close enuff to the sound that u want using a jazz guitar preset. If u use your pitch bends and temelo (ususally assigned to the mod wheel of your midi controller), u will mos def be in the neighborhood of the sound of that particular song. Apply eq and efx to taste if it sounds too generic.

Absolutely anything that has a jazz guitar , or maybe even a clean guitar.

Download a free softsynth like Sampletank free, or some soundfonts and work from there.
