Mean average best idiot..
someone was talking about holding a mixing comp on here I assume it will be in this place:

I view of my atrocious behaviour on here I’m seeking the political middle line and offering to be a Pass fail judge:

I have a system (a complicated system of tubes not unlike the internet) to interpret a mix and give any mix a:

Pass (it's ok for Hi-fi Stereo)

or

a fail (it's not ok for hi-fi Stereo)

this take into account none of my personal judgments and is Frequency based.

So in that respect it is not a perfect hit or miss and there is room for movement but.

it's a good indicator.

(and there is heaps of this flashing lights and a dot matrix punch card print out at the end.)(also a meandering insane post retired scientist)(and a Beagle.)

so As i get time if you post a mix either here or in the Official comp I’ll give it the Pass or fail and give you some frequency feedback. (not literally)

Thanks everyone on here for helping everyone else.

I’d never be so arrogant to say "you are not ready for my greatness" even tongue in cheek (or anywhere else) and I’d just like to say when one says they "know it all" in regard to anything they have to be deceiving themselves as reality has a way of time shifting itself.

Then one realises that they understand half again.

No shot at you ED just saying I’ve never qualify a statement like that.

Saying that one is "one" of the best songwriters or producers in the world implies nothing… the other "ones" could be on here right now nor does it suggest superiority just a normal human completive demeanour.

especially since I’m not sure I wrote them?

but I did produce them I done that.

So send those mixes flowing in and I’ll process them to the background of buzzing an whirring and flashing lights.

murmuring all the time about the Guernsey inflation rate.

Oh

And in the background some Apricot Cake is boiling in Ethanol on a Bunsen burner.

.

The MP3 clinic is the forum on this board where such activities take place. There have been several mixing and mastering contestes held there, and that's where future ones will most likely take place.

I suggest that if you want to put your rating system through some live fire exercises, that you head over to the MP3 clinic and try it out on the daily mix critique requests that occur over there.

And I'd recommend laying off the Ethanol and sticking to the Lithium ;).

thanks Glen

you decent person.

no that was a little test tell me what you get when you boil apricot "cake" "paste" in ethanol.

Hey, what do you get if you run Minor Threat's "I Don't Wanna Hear It" through your system?

Hmmm

I hear a constant voice telling me to go and write another song, and have another vodka as that what you hear?

wow, yeah i can really hear it!

did they put that in the track?

.

sweet!

now we can not only mix without using our ears, but we can judge the quality of someone else's mix without even listening!

dumbass.

I'm telling ya, bro, lithium salts would do you wonders.

Kind of like turnmeup.org.;)

I tried to wade through this (hopefully acid induced) post but gave up.

If I can't scan a post and find a coherent theme by sampling three or four sentences I tend to make a snap judgement regarding weather or not to expose my self any further.

Snap.

A wise choice......

The incoherent theme seemed to be that he has invented some sort of device that "listens" to your music and tells you if the mix is good or not......

Gandalf you shall pass.

Yes indeed and as basically Audio is Fequency based, it is Fequency possible.

note i said it's not the last stop just a good indicator.

I do listen also.

I listen and watch ...and learn...and hope.

Does it take into account the different curves required for different genres?

Trell blaze

yeah i hear you ......

love the name by the way...

short answer yes because i do actually listen to it when I’m not so lazy.

and there are a certain few combinations of frequencies that are consistent with every sound instance on the "full" spectrum that can respond in a way to Hi-fi speakers of varying quality and dynamic range.

short answer is just Frequency ...No but yes if I actually listen to it.

i can tell you straight away it's about putting it at it's distortion point. the highest ceiling before all harmonies distort.

When I listen against a perfect Hi-FI (from a frequency point of view) then it can get a straight pass or fail based on the movement away or towards that point.

Get it?

Post something up the mix can be “bad as such” because this is about frequency.

mixing is objective.
:)

I am now starting to understand why, in certain cases, the number of posts one had made has nothing to do with their competency. Of course I realised this before, in the case of, say, walters - but you could tell he was full of shit, he knew it, we all knew it, and we had some good laughs.

This guy, on the other hand, is going to have about 8,000 posts and newbs are going to read his "wisdom" and think they can spend... what was it? 3 dollars - on a microphone, and get studio quality results.

*sigh*

well...i'm glad that theblackbay found the frequency analyzer in his hacked waves package

now hopefully he'll spend more time staring at some plugs he doesn't know how to use, and less time rambling on here

Nah - if you'd been involved in any of his other threads, you'd know that he thinks that signal processing is for the birds - including the standards like reverb and compression. So he has no need for processing - even though he believes that you should not need to record in a treated room, use good instruments, or any sort of halfway decent recording gear, he still believes in 0 processing.

Of course, he is one step above a troll, so all of that is nonsense anyway :)
