Paranoid tone

Hey y'all, I'm trying to figure out exactly what Tony Iommi used on "Paranoid."

So far, here's what I've got:

Gisbon Les Paul
Laney Supergroup 100 watt head and 4x12 cabinets
modified Rangemaster treble booster

and ... some kind of ring modulator that was added in the mix.

Anyone know what model the ring mod was?

I thought he played only SG's. Both times I saw Sabbath that's what he was playing, and in all the videos I've seen of them, that's what he had as well.

Yeah he's definitely an SG guy, but I read in an interview with him where he said he played a Les Paul on "Paranoid," and it was one of the only (if not the only) time he ever used one.

Back then, Tony was an endorser and full-time user of a custom-made Brit guitar made by John Birch.

Don't forget...You have to chop off the tips of your fingers and fashion new ones out of wood and leather. Seriously, it had to affect his tone somewhat.
A small price to pay for killer guitar tone.
