did a little trading the other day and ended up with a pretty decent p bass copy(cort).plays great,sounds great.
ive been playing 6 string for 25+ yrs,and i suddenly want to be a bass player.
it all started when the bass player in my band left one of his basses over at my house.i was listening to "come dancing"off of jeff becks"wired" and i thought to myself,hmm,i think i will look up the bass tab and learn how to play that.sounds innocent enough
until you consider that my 6 string addiction started much the same way, though the song was different.(passage to bangkok
from rushs 2112)
well,since leaning that little ditty i have been from stevie wonders
"superstiton"to the commadores "brick house"to every tune off of james gang "bang.my name is sheppard and i am a funk slut.
this is not good people,im going to the alembic site twice a day and shit!i came out of my jam room this morning and my dog bit
me!(said i had been gone so long he didnt recognize me.little bastard)(hmm,be right back, im gonna go learn "walkin the dog"
right quick like)
how i will ever be able to afford this new habit is beyond me.

i guess im gonna start a second band that i can play bass in.
bass players stay pretty busy around here.maybe after ten years of one niters i will be able to afford an alembic.until then i will be on the look out for a nice jazz bass and an ampeg tube combo.

Very nice. I play a 6-string Alembic Epic. The epics are not as fancy as the Europa but they do sound and play nice!

so someone else has figured out the joy of bass? i havent really started playing funk yet, i dont think im good enough yet. right now im working on finger speed and pluckin, im getting pretty good at it. try looking at http://www.activebass.com for some tabs and what not...its a good site

get a copy of Tower of Powers "down to the nightclub" and "what is hip" if you really want to have some fun....killer bass on those 2

I used to play 6 string like you did. Then one day I picked up a bass like you did. THen I got hooked and bought a 6 string bass. Now I can't stand guitar players, they just get in the way now. Welcome to the low down stanky booty world of bass.
