Here's a new one I just finished. Pretty simple straight-ahead rocker.

"Panzer Man"
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6583646

Disclaimer: Any Nazi references are purely tongue-in-cheek. ;)

Any comments/critiques are welcome and appreciated. :)

Here's the cheesy lyrics:

I’m coming to your town
I’m gonna shake you down
I’m wearing gray and brown
I’m a Panzer Man
I’m coming after you
My guns will fire true
I’ll beat you black and blue
I’m a Panzer Man

There’s no doubt, you know you’re gonna get some
You cry out, your life is coming undone
You can’t escape the sting
Cuz you know just what I bring
You can’t escape from me - I’m a Panzer Man

I’m gonna chase you down
You’re going underground
I’m burning down your town
I’m a Panzer Man
My armor’s anodized
I’m human genocide
You better run and hide
I’m a Panzer Man

There’s no doubt, you know you’re gonna get some
You cry out, your life is coming undone
You can’t escape the sting
Cuz you know just what I bring
You can’t escape from me - I’m a Panzer Man

I’m oppressive
I’m aggressive
Fucking impressive
I’m a Panzer Man

There’s no doubt
I grind it out
It’s what I’m about
I’m a Panzer Man
I’m on top of you
You don’t know what to do
And now your time is through
I’m a Panzer Man

You look up, now you’re gonna see one
You reach out, now you’re gonna feel some
You can’t escape the sting
Cuz you know just what I bring
You can’t escape from me - I’m a Panzer Man
You can’t escape from me - I’m a Panzer Man
You can’t escape from me - I’m a Panzer!

Hi Greg L!

Good song, very good mix too.I was searching some "flaws"on mix, but all seems to be very good, good mids and highs, bass Gtr /bass drum excellente (that´s where biggest part of songs fall), and bass guitar with killer tone.

My only advice , but as a very personal opinion, I think you could try
some mid eq on the solo (intro, at least) guitar,or simply more volume to have it more near the excellent "tone" vocal (that cames much stronger, "I am the boss kinda":D, and that´s not happens with the solo intro).

But , again, my personal taste...

(Panzer... !...(sorry, GREG, I and my crappy english, had to search on web to know what means. Now I know... you Nazi!:D:D:D)

Haha, thanks a lot for the listen and the comments CIRO.

The intro solo and little leads during the choruses are on one track. I'll take another look at the intro solo tonight.

This is my favorite of yours so far. Really good groove. Very Offspring, and thats a good thing. Sounds really good on my home pc speakers (klipsch). I cranked it loud and it translated very good on them. Wish I could get my mixes to sound that good. Love to hear an Offspring cover.

Thanks a lot dude. I'm not really into the Offspring. They're okay but I don't listen to them.

Nice work Greg. I don't find the lyrics cheesy at all.

Thanks. I'm always pretty self-conscious about my lyrics. They're definitely the hardest part of songwriting for me.

Good work, man.

I've wanted a tank for a long time. Every time some joker is riding my bumper in rushhour traffic on the freeway I'd rotate that armored turret and75 mm barrell around to the back.

Hell yeah. There wouldn't be no rush hour if I had a tank. It would be pure destruction.

Thanks for listening. :D

Sounds awesome man...really good.

Thanks D. Glad ya liked it. :)

Man I love this one. Very professional but still raw and angry. Sometimes it hard to get 'em sounding polished without losing some energy. You did it all here.

I love the contrasts too--the palm mutes and tight controlled verses with the all out choruses, then all the way down to the spoken part. Very cool.

No nits here. Great job!

My armor’s anodized
Burnt orange with white lettering?

I love the song -- I don't have to get on the Katy Freeway much, but you can bet this will be blasting out of my car next time I'm stuck on it :D

I like the rattly sounding thing leading into to the bass breaks - nice effect.

Oh, and forty years from now, when I complete my first set of lyrics, I'll probably be a little self conscious, too -- yours are great!

Hey thanks a lot. The arrangement was originally just a barrage of guitars and drums. I re-did everything like it is now to give it more texture and a "build up" to the choruses.

Dude, the Katy freeway is a clusterfuck. You need a tank for that bitch.

That rattle sounding thing is called a vibraslap. I don't have one, so I swiped a sample off the internet. As I was working out the arrangement I just knew I had to have that sound in here somewhere.

Thanks for listening and the comments. :)

Hey Greg...I'm typing this while sitting in a deposition in Corpus Christi, TX. While I'll freely admit that this particular part of my job doesn't require 100% of my mental faculties, it probably wouldn't be cool for me to pull out some headphones and let the jam roll!!!

But since I only check this forum when I accidentally hit the wrong bookmark, the odds of me making it back to comment are very slim. I wanted to tell you that (1) I'm sure it sounds great; and (most importantly) I'm really glad to see you posting more originals. There's nothing at all wrong with posting covers...in fact, they're my favorite recordings to make, because I already have a template and it's cool to make them your own, but I think you have a lot of talent in the writing area and I'm glad that you're doing it.

Hope all's well in your world, and I'm sorry I can't give you anything substantive on the tune, but you're a good egg and deserve some props...even if they're coming from a douchebag such as myself.

Well thank you very much Chris. I appreciate that. If you remember to come back, please give it a listen. :)

Wow. I'm surprised to see you in this thread. Thanks for listening. :)
Why?

My assholiness (or yours) in other areas of HR has nada to do with my (or your) appreciation of whatever you, I, or anyone else posts elsewhere The mp3 Mixing Clinic is perhaps our only avenue of honesty with each other.

I acknowledge good tunage when I hear it.

I think this sounds great in all departments. The bass is really nice. How did you track it?

Okay, I agree. We'll keep it clean in the clinic. I will continue to crush you elsewhere. :D

Thanks a lot. The bass was recorded direct through Guitar Rig. Simple as that. I did spend a considerable amount of time tweaking things, but that's it. I wish I had some fancy piece of tracking info to share with you, but it's just direct bass and and amp simulator.
