Hello, i have a problem, in all my recording / mixings my guitars sounds a little like "in a box" but cant figure out what's the reason.

I recently recorded and mixed a Pantera - I'm Broken cover, you can hear it here:

I dont know if you can hear it but it doesnt sound with that Professional tone, it sounds a little like "inside a box" :\ What could that be? (any other critic is very welcome i want to get better in this :) )

I'm using garage band with Pod Farm 2.5 and my Pod Studio UX1.

Oh yeah, i didnt recorded the solo because is just a test and i dont really know the solo very well. :)

Thank you very much for your help.

Well, your (link is) broken like you said. I would try fixing it first. :D

The link didn't work for me either though.

Oh wow, thank you, i'll check it again, i uploaded it like an attachment, let me check

Ok I changed the attachment for a smaller one but still is not working :( cant post any URL and attachments are not working.. damn.. i'll try to get the 10 post count to put the sound cloud link.

Thank you DrumRookie! :D i did my 10 post count and i added the SoundCloud link, thnk you for your help :)

To me, the crashes sound very quiet and short sustained, which may be contributing to the problem with the guitars. But thats just me.

I'm not too experienced with guitars, but someone else will come along to help you out on that one. :)
Maybe doubling the guitar track and panning one to the far left and the other to the far right to make it sound a bit fuller?
Just a thought, and good luck!

Thank you for your reply :) actually that guitar is doubled and panned, one to the left and one to the right.

About the crashes, thank you ill work on that, im not very good with drums.. but i'll try it with your tips =)

Thank you!

Did you actually record the guitar twice or double it with a delay? A guitar track that is doubled using delay often has some amount of phase cancellation between the two tracks, giving it a boxy sound. If you doubled with a delay, try recording a second guitar track and panning one to each side. If you can, change something on the 2nd guitar track (guitar, amp, mic, or pre).

Thank you for your reply, is double recorded, not duplicated with delay, but i used the same guitar preset in pod farm 2 for both guitars and is the same guitar, so maybe that could be the problem, i'll try recording it again with another guitar or just modify the mic in the preset for the second one.

Both guitars are panned, one 100% left and the other 100% right.

Thank you! :D
