pannning?

How can I pan a track so that it fades from left to right, instead of just panning to one side?

thanks. I am not at my computer to try this, but it seems like sometimes I hear in songs where they will play pan the instrument on one side and the reverb would be in the other. Is that possible? Do you get what I'm saying?

You make two tracks of the same kind and pan them hard,one to left the other to the right.Then you add a reverb to one,but make sure to slide the reverb to wet,so the original instrument wont be heard,but all that is heard is the reverb.

So now you got the original track on one side and the reverb on the other.

I think you mean autopan...so it moves between the two speakers.

Send the track to a buss and put an autopan plug on the buss

Autopan is for constant oscillating back and forth. Automation is more useful when you want something to move at a very specific part of the song.

instead of creating 2 tracks though, just send your track to a bus and effect that.
busses are sent before the panning happens, so your bus will recieve audio that's in the middle of the picture. then you can automate effects on the bus track.

saves having to create more tracks. more efficient.

I use a hardware mixer so everything coming out to the mixer is hard panned left or right in the software to give it a dedicated channel on the mixer outside the box.

If I put autopan on one channel within the software I'm not gonna hear that effect on one mono channel when I come out the box....I have to bring out a stereo group to two channels on the board for that.
