pads, triggers for alesis drum module or roland spd series?

i'm looking for advice and/or opinions on my next project. I don't have a ton to spend, but i'm considering getting a drum module, but i'm not sure what to buy to plug into it (triggers, pads). I was also informed about the roland spd drums; they're all in one. I definitely don't want to get a roland to trigger a drum module - too much $. I either want some basic pads/triggers for a module, or the roland spd. I'm interested in your experiences with these products. thanks.

If you're buying a sound module with normal jack trigger inputs, i'd recommend building the pads yourself, they cost next to nothing, you can pick up all the parts from an electronics store. I'm in the process of posting an overview on my website, i'll post the link when it's ready. Alternatively just use google and search for "build drum triggers" or something similar.
