I got a POD Pro and I am now looking for a cheap way to switch between the patches by foot. I was looking at the Line6 FB4, and i was wondering if there is anything else out there that might do the same/better job with better deal.

Thanks

Tech 21 (a brilliant company) makes something called the MIDI Mouse that switchs sounds on any MIDI controllable device, like the POD, synthesizers, effects, etc. I think it's about $100 (U.S.)

the footcontroller Line6 proposes is really to expensive in my opinion.

some other good alternatives are the ART x-15 Ultrafoot and the Behringer... ummm... I can't remember the model.. anywho, I have the ART and it kicks ass. 2 expression pedals plus a 1/4" channel switcher to use with an amp. It's pretty solid, but a lot of people are put off by the small and close foot buttons. I have a size 7 1/2 foot, so that isn't an issue with me. You can find them for cheap on ebay.

I'll concur that the Line6 pedals are too pricey.. HOWEVER, there are a lot of proprietary functions built into their pedals to work with their amps and modelers.

The line 6 pedal is connected to the POD and amps etc... by a cable with a telephone plug at one end...not a MIDI cable

Be careful!
There may be a company who makes a pedal that matches, but I haven't seen it yet!

Thanks for all your inputs, especially Pastor Brian's heads-up. I will do some more research.
Thanks

I agree that the Line 6 floorboard is overpriced, but its worth it for me when you consider that many other 3rd party controllers aren't much cheaper if you want all the extra POD funtions. You don't need an extra power cable or anything. All you need is the included ethernet cable and if you need a replacement you can find one at any computer store. I think they charge what they do because they know people will buy it.

I've got the floorboard. Yes it was overpriced.

It seems to be built like a rock, and you get a nice wah pedal.

It was made for the Pod, the others aren't.

Might be best to bite the bullet, and pay the price, less hassle in the long run.

Last weekend I bought the Behringer FCB1010 and I would highly recommend if over the Floorboard. At first it is a little more work to program it but the instructions are good and you have a lot more options for less money. You do have to have a separate power cable but using the MIDI instead of the RJ45 cable is no problem. The Behringer will echo all incoming MIDI cable to the output so you can plug your computersound driver into the foot controller and then out of the foot controller into the POD.

The ups - twice the foot pedals 10 times the options for a hundred dollars less.
The downs - it requires a power supply and you have to program it

Personally I can spend a lot of years plugging in 1 extra cable verses the options I would lose with the Line 6 Floorboard
