Pack them bits????

In ACID pro, you have 2 choice for 24 bits...packed and unpacked. I have several other audio programs that use 24 bits, so try to record at that level (as opposed to 16 bit). What is the difference between packed and unpacked? (I couldn't seem to find it in the onboard help). Thanks in advance.

I would like to think that it adds a greater degree of detail to the music file. BUT most likely not. It is in all likely hood a form of compression.
