I am using PA9 with the Ark24 and when I try to change the Bit rate and sample rate to anything but 16 bit and 44.1 I get the error message that the card does not support these rates. I know that the card does. Is there some easy fix to this problem?
Thanks

Do you have another sound card installed (onboard audio in MOBO maybe)? Perhaps that's what's causing the message.

Otherwise I have no clue. Maybe try updating your drivers if there are later versions available.

I have a Sound Blaster Live card installed. The MOBO does have
sound but I have it disabled. I use the Sound Blaster for MIDI.

I think you need to disable the SB Live from the audio options in Sonar (Options -> Audio -> Drivers). Try that and see if it clears up your problem. The SB Live is a 16 bit card, which is most likely why you were getting the error message.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Life gets in the way of music at times, ya know. You are probably right and I will check it out, but
if this is the case then I will be destined to record at 16 because I need the SBLive for my general MIDI. I am using a Midi Keyboard controller which has no inherent sound. Thanks. I'll let you know if SBLive is the culprit.

NO. That's why you are disabling the SB as an audio option. Since you are recording your audio through the other card, you should be fine at 24 bits.

Howdy,

You don't need to disable the SB card - just tell Cakewalk not to use this driver for audio - under OPTIONS-AUDIO in CW9 from memory.

The issue with the Ark card sounds driver related to me - go and get the latest drivers and try it again. Also, I have seen this happen on my system when I have my Aardvark card set up to play Windows system sounds. Turning this off, (or setting it back to the SB Live), fixes the problem.

Good luck,

Q.
