Oxymoron, synchronicity or poetic justice?

I've been ask for, and have provided access to, one of my recent orginal recordings to a high tech, digital economy, 3d gaming and animation company for inclusion on their 250,000+ registered user web site.

And the tune they appear to want to use?

The ultra lo-fi, mono, single mike, live to cassette recording we made on the Marantz PMD222 reporters cassette machine in the rehearsal studio which we stuck up on www.mp3.com.au, from where it was recommended to them.

Somehow there's a nice synchronicity about a tune being picked up by a dot.com, gen y targeted (no disrespect intended) gaming type company that was played by a 62 year old Sydneyside guitarist, a 48 year old refugee from the Iranian revolution learner drummer and a 52 year old recording nerd from the bottom of New Zealand (me, that is) on Rhodes, singing through a megaphone and recorded on about the most lo-fi, old school equipment you could use.

:D

Congrats. Oxymoron, synchronicity or poetic justice? As long as it pays, you can call it whatever you want.... :D

That's flippin' awesome Geoff! You should send them one of the neatly packaged cassettes to really bake their noodle!:D

Its the thought that counts...

I'd give you more chiclets if I could, Geoff. That is really great...when tracking to digital the recording medium is a passive element...with analog tracking the gear is truly part of the production; an additional instrument/voice. I hope your tune continues on its transcendent path. Its an encouraging reminder that analog, gritty lo-fi analog, ain't dead...and its coming to a website near you. :D

That's pretty awesome.

But we all know it's the digital conversion to an MP3 that gave them the "pristine" sound they were looking for. :-p

Congrats and good luck with it!
