I just bought an Oxygen 8. After installing the drivers I got everything up and running and was able to use the Oxygen 8 with Fruity Loops, Cubase and Battery.

However, when I restarted my computer, none of those programs were recognizing the Oxygen 8 anymore. It still shows up as one of my devices under "Device Manager" but I can't get battery/cubase/fruity loops to see the thing unless I reinstall the drivers, which is such a pain to do every time I want to use the thing.

Any clues?

Make sure the unit is turned on before you boot up your music software.

It is USB powered...unless he is running it through traditional MIDI-Ports, in which case the power should not be a factor as the drivers would belong to a 3rd party device not related to the Oxygen-8. Of course make sure that the power switch is set accordingly on the back Oxygen-8.

Are you running it through a USB hub. I have had similar problems with the Radium 61's and Korg MicroKontrols. Solution: Make sure the controller is directly accessing a root port. If you have none free, you may need to invest $20 in an additional USB card (For a bit more money, a good oppurtunity to get one with FireWire too for future upgrades, if you don't already have that capability).
