Hi there!
Please can anyone tell what i'm doing wrong, I'm currentlry using cakewake pro audio 9 without much success.
Basically whats happening is that when i record through my "line in" track one will record fine, when I select track 2 and record, it also records what i've recorded in track1, i.e. not seperate tracks.

I've also tried a few other programs such as Pro Tools and Cool Edit Pro with pretty much the same thing happening. I've checked my volume control panel for both recording and playback and no matter what i select the same thing keeps happening.

just for the record i'm running a PII with 128mb-ram 233mhz with win95 and my sound card is a Vibra 128.

Any suggestions would make my life a lot happier.

Are you sure you have "line in" selected and not "What you hear" are you using an external mixer that may be looping the audio?

Thanks for the advice guys........still no joy though. I've selected and unselected, muted and unmuted every possible combination.

This may sound silly but can you tell me what you've selected in your volume control, for playback and recording, just in case i'm still doing something stupid........is it anything to do with win95??

If you have no specific software from your soundcard and you have to chose your inputs with your windows volume control, click in the recording menu on 'Line In' instead of 'stereo mix'.
 
Your system and software are so old we would need somebody who can read hieroglyphics to give you exact instructions (sorry ;)couldnt resist).

But seriously, nobody here is using that card and hopefully very few are still using win95 so your problems are hard for us to really trouble shoot.
 
Hi all

Problem solved!!!! I basically ripped out the old card (vibra 128) and put a brand spanking new SB live in. (hope this has brought it up to at least the 19th century)
It was all in the volume control set up, for some reason the old card wasn't responding to "line in" ???

Anyway, the sound difference is awesome and now i'm fully able to get on with my projects.

I'm well chuffed!!

Congrats and good luck. See ya in a few months when you decide to go for the delta sound card ;)
 
You will probably find that you could have done it with your old card. The properties of the Volume Control allow you to select which 'options' you set the volume which you either record on or play. You then need to select your input device from the 'recording' side and if you select the 'line-in' that's all you need.

Just watch out if you have a Live Drive! where you can plug your guitar or mic in. There is a hardware switch which you need to switch depending if you use a condener or dynamic mic... read the manual.
