Overheating of Active Monitors

Active Monitors Overheating

I've searched through some forums and the web and cannot find much info about this. I see that active monitors from companies like Adam, Dynaudio, JBL, etc., have heatsinks on the rear for convection, while Mackies have open ventilation. I know these are the higher end of the spectrum, though how do monitors from Alesis, M-Audio, KRK and the like stay cool after extended periods of use without any visible form or ventilation? Would the life expectancy shorten for these brands due to this? Would there be a noticable difference in performance due to the heat?

It's just how the things were designed. My Genelecs don't have a heat sink either.

Do you notice any differences in the sound?

Not because of the heat sink.

Most all Active monitors will have a heatsink of some sort but they aren"t allways visable from the outside.....Also if the Amp inside the Speakers is a Class A amp it will have a Bigger heatsink than say a Class D amp of the Same power as Class D amps are more Efficient than Class A but Class D also will have Higher THD specs......
