Ovation Thunderhead Deluxe hollow body electric, need info

I have a nutmeg circa 1968 Ovation Thunderhead Deluxe hollow body electric guitar. It is in mint condition other than the pickups and missing switch cover. The gold plating is worn off in some spots, and one of the pickups is missing the A string pickup button. I need to replace at least the one pickup. I also want to replace the plastic casing on the pickup selector switch. I can't seem to get much info on this guitar or the pickup specs. These guitars were not made for very long, so I think I are pretty rare. Does anybody have any info on what pickups they are. Does anybody know an approximate value on these either? Any info about it would be appreciated really. Thanks!

We had a nice ovation come through the shop one time. I think it sold for about 600, but I'm not sure if it was the exact model that you have.

Do you have a picture of the guitar?

You might also want to try one of thoose "guitar blue books" or do a search on ebay for "completed" listings. That will give you a guess to it's value.

For what it's worth, it sounds like you've got a pretty cool guitar.

It needs a setup real bad

but first I need to replace the pickups. I took one apart and found the missing pickup rod. But it isn't staying in place correctly. There is also some corrosion on some of electronics. I'll post a pic tomorrow night when I get some time.

I like the guitar, it just needs a good working over to bring out the potential.
