One Hit Wonder
I'm reaching out for critques on my first "finished" recording project (are they ever really "finished"?). I'll forewarn everyone the the genre is a cappella doo wop. Probably not everyone's cup of tea on this bbs. However, I am interested in opinions on the recording and mixing quality.

The song was recorded and mixed in Cakewalk PA9 and then finished slightly in Wavelab 3.0 (compressed to get the volume up a bit and the fade applied). I also used Wavelab to create the MP3 file.

I was going to say "be gentle", but after thinking about it I'm really looking for honesty. How else to learn?

Bass in the middle nice, all other vocals giving the sense of space...very good recording...sounds like good mics were being used, eh....throw some massive 'verb on and you could freak out the a cappella set big time....you got a great sound out of this recording....gibs

Great sound!!! nice song.. I don't personally listen to that kind of music, but I definitely think you did a very good job. The bass voice is the only thing that *might* require some editing IMO.. It sounded a bit nasal to me (mind you, I've only heard it in my ol' Sennheiser 414 headphones..)..

Great recording.. keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The mics we used, gibs, were Shure SM57's and 58's.

I'll take a listen to the bass again. What would you recommend for the bass voice, Meshuggah? EQ or re-record it?
