A little strang but...

Yesterday we had a gnarly raing storm so, I ran a 50' cable out from the studio an omni mic outside (under the patio cover) and tracked it for a sound effects experiment. The play back was really nice. I only recorded about a minute's worth.

So now I take it to SONAR and try to loop this for a continuous long play rain sound. The problem is at every loop start/stop, there's a noticable break or hick-up. What's the best way to get rid of this?

Thanks,
sjl

read up on zero crossings on the net sometime.
when you join two pieces of audio or more which i suspect your doing to create a longer loop try and splice at zero crossings. ie: where the waveform crosses the sample value zero point. if you cut audio at a peak
then you get a hiccup. i suspect thios is the source of your proble.
the old shareware editor cool edit 96 had a zero crossings option to accomodate this issue. but its only 16 bit.

SONAR has the zero crossing feature.

Make sure this function is selected and trim each end of your track. When you split at each end, SONAR will select a zero crossing point.

You could also overlap the clips and cross-fade between them.
SO, I uh, don't suppose you'd be willing to share your rain sounds? I've been looking for something decent for quite a while.

I'm on the road this week. When I get back this weekend I'll try to put a little time to it and get back at you.
