I've gone back and forth on this one....

What do you guys think?

You can't disable the onboard pre - does that negate any advantage of running your mic through a better pre first, and then into the aardvark?

I think i am going to just buy a Delta 1010....its cheap...had enough probs with vark in general.

i'll use it for recording drums still.

oh...i guess the other option would be to get a better converter instead..

like a Lucid2496 thing...run the new mic pre into that...and then run digitally into the aardvark.

thats not a bad option....lucid is a bit more expensive than a delta 1010 as i recall.

wonder if it would work pretty seamlessly?

uhh
go in the aarkmanager and put the channel to line when you run a preamp through it.

Not only should you set your input to line, but turn the gain all the way to zero. This effectively negates the preamp in the Aardvark and uses your other preamp.
