Rockin' & Rollin'
Hello,
Is anyone familiar with the Otari MX-50 N2? I have the opportunity to buy one in nearly brand new condition for $500.

I can't find very much info on the MX-50, only the MX-5050 (various models) and the MX-55.

I have the chance to pick it up tomorrow, if all seems good on appearance and any reviews from you all.

Thanks a lot!

if you're picking it up, don't go on appearance. run a tape through it and test it. or pay with a check.

It's every bit as good as the 5050. If everything is in great condition, including the heads, $500.00 is a good deal. It was a budget-minded offering compared to the MX-5050, but no real sonic differences. It listed for $2495.00 in 1989.

Here is the latest manual for the MX-50II

Keep us posted on your find. :)

He he, like everything in life, this machine has a story.

Apparently management for a touring band purchased to record the band's shows. It was used to record a total of two shows (no idea on the band) before the band said they didn't care anymore, as it wasn't there money.

It sat in a warehouse for several years, until the current owner traded for it for some used turntables.

The owner doesn't know who the "band" is, but I'll be checking it out this afternoon.

I picked up the machine! It's in great shape, sounds great, heads are immaculate. For the most part it looks brand new.

All I need is a place to put the thing. It's rackmountable, but I don't have rackspace for it right now.
