I'm sure you're all aware of the insane gas prices these days. If you're like me, you're sick of it. You might think there's nothing you can do, but there is. You may have already seen a similar email...

The plan is for everybody to STOP BUYING GAS FROM EXXON/MOBIL FILLING STATIONS. This is the biggest oil company and if we can all make a conscious effort to stop purchasing their fuel all at once, they will be forced to do something about it. Other companies will also be inclined to follow suit.

This should not be a major inconvenience for anybody. Simply just buy your gas at an Amoco, BP, etc. Citgo is probably the best place to go since they are the only major oil company that doesn't buy their oil from the middle east.

This could actually work folks.

The only other thing that needs to happen is for this message to get read. Please repost or email anywhere you can. IT'S THIS, OR PAY THE PRICE.

<banging head on desk> It doesn't work that way...

One of Memphis' best held secrets is the oil refineries on the river on the south side of town... 50% of the fuel in town comes from one of them, about 50% comes from the other.. Neither one of them is owned by Exxon or Mobil..

Besides.. Haven't you heard we're not supposed to be buying Citgo gas this week, because they are owned by the Venizulians and they are trying to undermine the US government.. And of course there's AMCO.. We're not supposed to be buying from them because they use only oil from American soil and that's destorying the coastlines and the Alaskan wilderness...

Simple solution: use less gas. That will reduce prices. :)

Simpler solution: keep threads like this in the Cave

I hate to disillusion you, dub, but you will find in the coming years that the demand for gasoline in China will keep prices going up, up, up, with U.S. consumption having less and less to do with the supply/demand equation.

So if you really want to save money on gas, I'd advise you to buy a scooter or a bicycle.

Crash is right. Boycotting gas companies won't do anything. Economics 101 right there.

EDIT: Any way this could be placed in the cave?

Either I can tell you that is a retarded idea, or you can read it yourself.

While we're at it, I'm sick and tired of paying .67 cents for a can of chicken noodle soup, let's boycott Campbell's and force them to change their prices too!

While the average employee battles their employer for "cost of living" increases to adjust for "inflation" the average consumer pisses and moans when it's reflected onto the prices they pay at the store, pump, etc. You don't want to pay higher prices for anything? Stop pushing for that raise....

Endless cycles are so win.

You guys have money to spend on gas?!

I thought this was a mostly musician forum?

G.A.S., yeah, but as in gasoline? No way.

I cant afford a full tank of gas, cuz I have a full bank of G.A.S.

The price of fuel in Australia is WAY beyond what you folks in the U.S. would refuse to even consider paying.
Our Fed. Govt makes more out of a bogus international price parity/excise than anything other than cigarettes.
The "don't buy" protest does nothing to reduce costs or even break the holiday price hike or "weekly pricing cycle". It's a little like the fake paper & plastic recycling that local councils down here do each week - it make one feel good, empowered, making a difference, settles us down & then we all get on with being good little consumers.
ONLY govt. can make those things go away & they won't because hey are in each other's pockets.
The claim of SUPPLY & DEMAND is also a phallacy.
In the end China & the rest of the developing world will be blamed because we will never really know what's going on there.
& then on top of that you have the poor service (gas) station operators who are being regally reamed by ALL the fuel companies.
WHEN the ULTRA RICH decide that it's time to write off petrolium & coal & move to something else to make the next big killing THAT'S when things will change. Apart from that there's always the revolution... but your mob voted for Bush & mine for Howard while the poms went for Blair despite knowing the truth about them & their antics,- so the rev. will only happen when mortgage rates aren't the fundamental fear factor.
& there endeth the sermon.
Cheers

No, it's not. It's the truth, backed up by solid facts. As opposed to the numerous, paranoid unsubstantiated claims you made following the above statement.

People, please use common sense. As far as senses go, it's our most underrated and under used.

I come to this section to read THIS CRAP??? I'm surprised nobody ripped you a new one yet. Well, allow me to then. You don't come here with your fucking bullshit about who charges too much and who we should buy from. It's only YOUR opinion. And it does NOT belong in the guitar section.

lol....unfortunately, we are in the minority because this guy had a red box for reps when this thread was listed with one or two views and no replies. Now the dirty commies and hippies gave him good feedback and he is in the green. :(
