Hello all-
Forgive the dense nature of this question but I have very little experience with this sort of thing. I just downloaded the new OS upgrade from the Fostex site. How do I proceed from here? How do I get it loaded onto my MR-8?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-

Hi,
in the zip file you downloaded are the instructions in adobe .pdf format. I'm remembering that the proc is different whether your using USB or a CF reader. If you have neither, Fostex are offering to do the update !

thanks

Thanks RedStar-
I just found the info you talked about. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Clif,

Does it have a .zip extension?

I uncompressed the zip file and I am left with a mr08_mv1 file which is about 1567kb

Don't you just copy that to the card and reboot the MR-8?
well I would have to use the USB cable. DO you havthe the Adobe file with instructions?

It really is a lot easier to do than the instructions make it look.
I was wondering, anyone have vers. 1.00 on their MR 8? mine was 1.01.

Hi,
mine was 1.1 too !
I missed the part about flashing mic simulator lights because I was watching the state of the union but everything seems fine ! that may be a 1st for a software update !!

Ok here is my problem. I originally assigned by accident the new software upgrade to be opened with microsoft word. Of course the MR-8 now does not recognize the file on it's hard drive now since it is pobably in a bunch of jibberish as a MS word document (I fel like such a fool) anyhow, I have deleted the files and downloaded again several times but my computer keeps thinking it is a "word" file. Can someone tell me how to undo this or maybe just email me the original document (v.1.03) so that I can just move on...

If it has an extension on it, just right click it, rename it mr08_mv1.03, and dont put an extension on it. then go on as usual. As long as you've taken the the extension off that your computer automatically adds, it should just sit there with no association. You can't go in and change it's association, because the MR 8 isn't a program on your computer, so try renaming it as above. If that doesn't work (and all this is assuming the computer added an extension like ;doc, or .wpd, or some such thing) If you need any more help, email me at dyuob@yahoo.com
