holy crap what was that noise? your background noise intro is up really loud for 1. delay is to up in the mix. I like the drums, the bass is up to much not a fan of the electric guitar tone or lack there of. When you said close my eyes and the bass came in it was distracting the bass should be lower. The reverb or delay or whatever you picked could of been better. At 343 I like the guitars it brings you into the song there you go theres your review grade c+

The noise in the intro is supposed to be a storm:rolleyes:; now listening closely, yes, it should be quieter.

You feel the bass is too loud on the whole song, or just the "close my eyes" part?

Guitar tone and vocals are my weakest link. This particular track was recorded DI from my effects pedal. I don't know wether to fix it by EQ'ing or by re tracking. If EQ'ing, do you have any particular frequency you can suggest me boosting or cutting?

I'm at work right now, when I get home I'll try to fix the mix.

Thanks for your critique:)

Cheers!

it did sound dI can you reamp it? that proably would help alot

Yes I can. I'll squeeze in time to redo it mic'ing my amp.

Thanks again mate.

try multi track the rhythm guitar and putting one on each side. Also cut down the low frequecy in the bass. (Too bassy in my opinion). I don't know if you need to retrack the electric guitars or just eq them differently, but they don't sound right. it may be because of the panning (or lack there of) that causing the muddiness.

The rhythm guitar is already multitracked, one on each side:rolleyes:
The electric guitar is just one track unpanned.
Yes, agreed with you GrayH, bass track is too bassy.

Last night, I managed to redo both, bass track and electric guitar track. Bass I recorded DI, and electric guitar, mic'ing my amp. I think the guitar sounds livelier this time, and the bass crispier and more defined. (The original bass track was recorded with a Yamaha RBX200 bass; this new track, with a Squier MB5:))

I'll upload the new mix in about an hour.

Thanks for your comments GrayH

Oh, and I also lowered the background storm in the intro:D

Nice song, Jorge!
I quite like the guitar tone and the bass fills the bottom up nicely. Drums sound just great. I would fade the storm out a bit earlier in the intro and pan the guitars left and right. I find the sound quality very good though, well done!

Joe :):)

Thanks Joe:)

Glad you liked it mate.

Seems like the damn storm is too loud for everybody:rolleyes::D

I think that you should ditch the storm completely. At first I thought that you had a cable shorting out or something.

That bad huh?

I'll have to see how it sounds without it. Maybe it sounds good only to my ears.

I'll do another mix.

Thanks for the comment.

Cheers!

Crazy intro mate!

It's kind of a sluggish melody...and the vocals have a lot of reverb on them, which many people don't seem to like...but it's ok. Sounds ilke you/ a human played all the parts...so sounds pretty good and the mix seems to be well balanced.

I'm listening in headphones

Thanks Monkey:D

Yup, all human, I don't know how to use midi at all:eek:

Well, I'm a drummer who happen to know how to play a little guitar and bass, so there you go, that's why my original songs sound weird:o...and once again, my vocals suck big time, so I try to hide them a little using tons of verb;)

But, I have a great time, composing, recording and doing cover songs on all instruments, and that in the end is what matters...at least to me:)

Thanks again for checking it out:D

Cheers!

Yeah a low mid cut on the bass will help. It's pretty big in the mix. Vocals are too wet and need to fall back into the mix just a little bit. Drums and guitars sound fine. I like the toms.

The storm didn't bother me at all. :D

I like it

but to me, the storm lends to a very 80ish production yet when the storm dissipates and indeed when the drums come in at 1:03, the production is far more modern (is contemporary the correct word?). I agree with the dude who said to ditch the storm. In fact, perhaps you might consider ditching everything before the vocals kick in, seems *maybe* a little too glorified, as was the way with many 80s productions (imo) ;-)

I really love the production from 103 though, the drums (and indeed everything else) sound awesome...

ben.

Thanks Greg:)

I'll check the bass EQ and levels.
Ha....one that likes the storm.......finally:D:D:D

Thanks Ben:)

80's glorified...I guess that was the idea!
Yes, I also think when all the instruments kick in, sounds a bit more contemporary.
My composing style, if you could call it that;), is outdated, It's like I have the 80s stuck in my brain.
I did a test mix ditching the intro...don't ask me why, but I felt the song was lacking something. Maybe because the idea of the storm, came to mind when I was injured, and wasn't able to play drums for a whole month. It's like a sad mood, of loss and pain.
Anyway, glad you liked the rest of the song:)

Thanks for listening guys.
