Original Mackie UAD1 - should I buy it?

My local guitar center only has the new Project Pack and then the original Mackie UAD1 cards in stock.

They are asking $599 on the original, and won't negotiate!
Should I consider this? Will I definitely want to purchase the Cambridge EQ later on?

Also, since it is the Mackie one, do I still get full support from UA? and is it easy to upgrade the software for the card, etc.?

Thanks!

BTW, the reason I would buy from GC is because they have 15 months no payments/interest right now. I could also have them order in a Studio Pack instead of the Mackie one, which I could get for $860....

Get the Mackie one. That's what I did and then added the Cambridge afterwards. If you go with the Project pack you miss out on the 1176n and the LA2A, which you will want. You still get the same support from UA and access to all the software and updates.

$600 seems a little steep in my mind. Otherwise its a good go. Go with what you can afford and build up.
