The drums sound very very far away like you had a sensitive mic pick it up from another room or something. And for a style like this that is a big no no. You don't get that big brutal driving force. Bring out the drums, now unless you are mixing on headphones or computer speakers then I totally understand. But still, in that case, you need to familiarize yourself with the speakers and see what ranges are bypassed and which ones are amplified so as to fine tune when you are mixing. Just fix these major errors and you should come much closer to a good mix in terms of a good sound.

Agreed. I can see you using this track as a rough concept take, but the playing is sloppy and the drums an afterthought.

Not trying to be an asshole, but just can't see this as much more than "here is a rough idea I laid down" type track.

:D

Totally agree with IO....
I hear something that remotely resembles a snare drum, guitars sound phasey and are clustered in the middle, the kick is inexistent. I think that you have to concentrate on the basics first. Instead of the sloppy drums, I would either programme some or get a real drummer to play them. But they have to be tracked better. Don't give up, we all have to start somewhere.

Thanks for the tips....drums are def. an area i need work in. I had inserted a large room reverb effect on the drum tracks-the triggered samples just seemed a bit too dry in the mix......can anyone offer some more advice on laying drum tracks with the ez drummer plugin?I prefer not to use pre-recorded loops-I can never seem to find the right one to complement the song ideas. I don't have access to a live drummer. my primary instrument is guitar.....
