Greetings,
So I've been working on various projects lately until I get the warning informing me that all the space on my computer was full and recording was aborted. When I go to Computer>Local Disc>Audio I find EVERY single audio clip that I have EVER recorded.
Upon working on my projects I had deleted messed tracks and those that I didn't need, I just wasn't aware that anything that had be recorded is still saved on my computer.
I had gone down the list deleting audio files and anytime I came across one that was part of one of my projects it notified me of such so I wouldn't delete any of the files that I am currently using.
Unfortunately it ended up deleting some tracks that I had part of a final project. Retreiving the deleted tracks failed so I had to re-record some parts.
All that aside, how can I organize my audio files to keep this from happening? Is it possible that when you delete a file out of a Cubase project that it is completely deleted from your computer?

When you start a project you need to set up a folder for that song, and select all your audio files to be stored to that folder. You're given that choice when you select "new project" from the file menu. It will come up with a dialog box titled "set project folder".

If you don't do that, as you found out, and just keep recording song after song to the same folder it will be a mess!

Also, in the Audio Pool (in the Project menu) it will show you what files you are using with a song. Use the Audio Pool to keep track of what's up with your song! I delete/rename files from there, not from the desktop.

Hope that helps. :)

Also in the pool you can Remove unused media and if you want it from your harddisk use Empty Trash

This saves a lot of space.

Cheers
Wim
