Thanks to people here I know more about optimizing my new PC for audio.

Tonight I will install the Cubase Limited Edition that comes with my new Aardvark soundcard and breakout box.

I am setting up a logon just for music and will go in and turn off all those things the various websites recommend disabling for good home recording performance.

Here is my question: Should I install the program first, and then do all the suggested changes to my settings? Or should I do all the setting changes first, and then install Cubase? Or does it not matter one way or the other?

Thanks a lot.

I really don't think it matters. But it may help to disable things like the onboard audio for that login and then when you do install Cubase it won't find those items from the get go.

Best bet would be to do all the OS tweaks first.
Get the system as lean and stable as possible. Then install whatever DAW software you intend to use and run through it's settings to adjust for your needs.
