How far do they reach?????

I was thinking about getting one so I could start/stop play in CEP from recording position (i.e. not at the desk).

Do you mean wireless mouse rather than optical?

Optical mice usually work on a hard surfcae and require no mouse pad, but still have a cord to PC.

A wireless mouse has no cord and can be operated at a distance. Range varies, but direct view of the PC will usually work in most all home sized rooms.

I use a wireless keyboard and it works from 30 feet away.

Yes, wireless mice based on RF rather than infrared can work from a separate room.

I use Logitech's wireless keyboard and mouse and am able to work with a pc in another room connected to my TV in the living room.
