They are just the rough intro's of a couple songs we are working on. They are basically practice runs before we record the full songs. I would like to know what you guys think about the songs themselves, but also the recording qualities. I dont have monitors yet so its a little hard to mix, and basically all i did on both the songs was a little eq. i put some compression and limiting on the snare but thats about it. Is there anything else i should do?

nice tunes in the works.. both sounded good except there's some clipping.. more in the first one.. listen to the very end of the first tune.. the drums clipping maybe.. not as bad on the second.. drums overall need to be tamed.. what are you using for drums and guitar?

thanks, yeah the very end of that first clip, where i hit the snare and tom at the same time it sounds like its clipping but its just very badly tuned tom with no low end to it. Ill need to take more time tuning when i record the actual song. I recorded the drums on to my fostex vf160 and the guitar is done on a guitarport. i did the mixing and editing in cool edit pro.

Thanks a lot. I wasnt too sure how i was doing because those are the first recordings ive done with the guitarport and i did all the parts myself. I had to make my own tones in the guitarport because i didnt like any of the presets. Ill try to have a complete version of at least one of the songs up by next weekend.

Compared to "Intro2", "Intro1" is surprisingly tight and made me forget about the quality.
