I recorded this give me some input. URL is http://www.myspace.com/doublewidesupersport
the song is called "Agitation" there are a some mistakes musicianship wise, but I'm more concerned with the tones and mix. I'm learning as I go. I used a fostex 8 channel 4 buss board into a M-audio delta 44.
Drums- 2 octava condensers (MK something as overheads X-Y) and 57 for kick.
Vocals- octava condenser
Everything else the 57
I used DBX 166xl's for compressors and sonar 2.0
Thanks George.

..the mix is better than the musicianship. MUHAH, sorry, that was evil. Musicianship not too bad for that sort of music.

Cymbals IMHO could be up a bit.. nice bass tone, but completely buried by vocals and guitar at start. Man they start LOUD.. maybe a bit lower on both and let the bass and drums have some room?
Singer on tune, guitartone fit to this.

Cool song.

Bass needs some definition & a bit of a boost.
The vocals are just a tiny bit too loud & the solo at 1.12 needs to be louder - I'd also move it to DEAD CENTRE for it's duration because it's an excellent tone & moves along well enough to feature.
Good groove, riff & hell, I don't know why musicianship is an issue - this sounds like a BAND.
Cool

Thanks for the tips. As I said I'm still learning. Honestly, my tracks are coming out better than I expected cosidering my experience and equipment. I'm thinking about adding a studio projects B1 to my arsenal and maybe and a lexicon effects unit. Anyone use either? Thanks again. I'm heading out to the rehersal space to make more noise. Later all.

yep, the bass is all over the place and should be more focussed, vocals should be more up front. i would give the rythm guitars a bump around 4000-6000 Hz, just a bit to give them some more bite and definition.

man, you guys sound ANGRY!!!
good one!

cool myspace btw
