Not of sound mind
I've been thinking about getting a new nylon string guitar (my cheap old Yamaha is about to shit the bed, I fear). I played a couple of the La Patrie models today in the music store (La Patrie is made by Godin, who also do Seagull, etc.). I was fairly impressed by their sound in the store. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these axes? Are they reliable, etc.? Thanks a bunch.

I've played a number of La Patrie classical gtrs... very nice guitars for the money IMO.

Also good are the gtrs by Esteve and Amalio Burguet, both made in Spain.

That was my opinion of them as well, nice little guits for the money. All models come with solid tops, I believe, and some come with solid backs as well. Also, some dealers will have some "seconds" that have minor flaws in the finish, and you can get those even cheaper. No matter what you decide, you can probably talk the dealer down 20%-30% from the asking price on an unblemished guit--unless you already know for a fact that you are getting that pricing. I found this to be true on my Godin electric (same company) also, which I bought 30% off list.

The company is a huge manufacturer of guitars and has it down. I doubt you'll find a better bang for the buck. Good reputation.

Thanks, guys. It's definitely on my 'to buy' list now.
