Hello there, I figured I'd put out my most recent creation to see what you all think of the mix. In hindsight I think the guitars are a tad too bright, but do please tell me your thoughts.
The mix is really good. Are the drums live? They sound almost too perfect (I know that's an odd thing to say, but they sound mechanical). The guitar tone on the end solo was a bit bright, but I liked the brightness of the other guitar parts.
Thank you very much! Haha yeah the drums aren't live, they're programmed, tried my best to make them sound as human-like as possible but alas, only so much you can do. Thank you kindly for your point on the end solo, I can see what you mean.
I liked the low end of the mix. Really strong without being muddy or boomy. Good guitar performances.
Guitars sound OK. But they lack a little warmth. They're a bit sterile sounding. Not real bad though. Just something to think about.
The thing I'd mention about this drums, aside from being a little robotic, every snare hit and every kick hit sounds the same. No variation in how they sound.
I agree that the only bright-sounding guitar was that lead at the end. The bass tone at :34 is awesome. That's the kind of sound I expect to hear in the background if I ever come face-to-face with Satan. Did you do that with a bass or some kind of synthesizer?
This is a cool-sounding song. Good playing and riffs. Kudos to you on keeping the speed of the song from getting stupid. Since it started out slow, when it became apparent a change of pace was coming around :40, I anticipated some breakneck pace coming next with too many bass kicks that would just sound stupid and forced (I guess that's the impression I have of modern metal). This sounds good. I knew that a sea of double-kicks had to be coming at some point (2:53), but even that sounded ok.
Give it some lyrics. Threaten the UN or Greepeace or something. Something metal!
Hah, thank you kindly. The bass is an actual bass guitar. And I would love to have vocals for it, the only issue being that I couldn't really do it myself, vocals aren't really my strong point, and I have the idea for how I would want them to sound in my head.
