Greetings!

I'm looking into the Akai DPS12i and it seems to be everything I'm looking for . . . but I can't find any reviews or info on this machine, and I don't want to dump $1300 on a load.

What can you DPS12i owners (or anyone knowledgable) tell me about this machine? Is it good/bad? Would you recommend it? What are the pros/cons?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

i bought an akai dps12i about a month ago, and if your gona buy it at guitar center don't, i got mine for 800 brand new from some place in florida. musician's friend, or AMS has them for 900, also look on ebay. but anyways i love it. it sounds really good for what i use it for. the effects are pretty good too. its really easy to use, but it still takes a couple night of staying im late to learn.overall its well worth the money, just don't spend 1300 on it because you can get it ALOT cheaper. if you have any other questions you can email me at mattoxxx@hotmail.com
goodluck, matt

If your set on the dps12 then by all means get it. Shreve Audio has the best buy. Around $700. I have a dps16 and if I were you, I would look at that instead. You never know when you might need more inputs, effects, ect. You'll spend twice the money, but you'll get more than twice the machine.

For my money, the DPS12i is "the" best 12tk machine on the market. If you have the fx board then you've got yourself a hell of a machine! I've had mine for nearly a year now and I actually run a part time business recording band demo's. I've had no complaints about the quality (it is after all full bandwidth uncompressed digital audio) and it's a breeze to use once you know how.

CONS: Not enough inputs, although you can simultaneously record 12tks, you only have 8 inputs (6 analogue and 1 stereo digital). You can get away with recording a drum kit by being economical with tracks but unless you plan to try and record Pink Floyds next album this shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with whoever said if you can stretch to it, buy a DPS16, however the DPS24's not to far away either!
