can anybody tell me the difference between the 219 and the 319. would the 219 be worth around $75. any input would be sweet.

thanks

Love my 319. I think the 2 mics are the same on the inside just a redesigned screen on the 319. I've read on these boards that there was some kind of sound problem because of the design of the screen. But there are people here who like there 219's.

I have a 219. I like it and use it for certain things. I wouldn't want it to be the only LD condenser in my locker ( it isn't!) but it has a character that I like for my voice and sometimes for acoustic guitar and mandolin.

Others may NOT like it simply because its not a flat mic and it doesn't have that high end "air", but that is exactly why I like mine! Gee, for $75, its not a real bad deal. However, if you are looking for a vocal mic that has more top end, the MXL V67 is on sale at Mars for $100 new, right now.

Like crawdad says, it's a good mic in certain situations. I like mine and wouldn't consider getting rid of it. Im my case it does a better job of recording the thinner sounding instruments (banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, autoharp) that anything else. You may want to add about 2db @ 3800khz in the mix to compensate for the grille as opposed to the 319, otherwise they are the same mic.

...or to make a few enemies in the canine world. ;)

Meeow! Another note on Oktava mics is the infamous lack of quality control, unless you buy from a source which pre-tests them. Listen well to the mic you wish to buy, and accept none other than the one you like.
