1)Does anyone know what kind of cymbals the drummer from opeth uses in the CD Your Arms, My Hearse? I really love the Hi Hat sound on it.

2) Are the Dark Energy cymbals by Paiste good jazz cymbals?

Have no idea what cymbals were used on that recording, but if you want to hear the best jazz cymbals, check out those from Bosphorus and Istanbul. You can see and hear them here:

My favorites are the Masters and Masters Turk series from Bosphorus. Absolutely amazing jazz cymbals. The New Orleans line is also nice if you need something that can be a nice jazz sound or a bit more volume for blues or rock.

Agreed. I am an istanbul guy but the bos stuff is good too. Also, real old K zildjians from the 60's are good as they are basically Istanbuls. Generally, with jazz it is in the ride cymbal and they have kind of a dark, dry sound as opposed to a pingy rock ride or a washy crash.

Well, I tried out some dark energies, and I really like em. So if I get jazz cymbals, they will be the paistes. Now... anyone know about Opeth?

Martin's Symbals

He uses Sabian Cymbals, at least he currently does, im not sure about back then, but id assume it hasnt changed.

Haven't been to the site in a while but im pretty sure if you browse through the official page they have some recording notes for every album. At least they used to. I remember reading that it was a Tama Swingstar kit on that album but I don't remember anything about the actual cymbals.
