This will be a Recording and an attempt to do a decent job for a very important purpose.

To Be Begin With, an Instrumental band, Not wanting grade A studio recordings (money) but will want a demo to be used as an important tool.

where this demo will set the standards for their distribution as a band

and also be a ground breaking addition to there already expanding shows.

This is a big deal for us and a hell of a long shot but here it goes:

I only use an Onyx Satellite Base Station

I have good mics for drums as well as great guitar mics. the Base Station uses two preamps and has an insert input in the "base" (in the back) for added equipment.

My Idea is a Mixer.

I want serious input for this one for those who have fallen into such kind of situations.

Please Help!!

Question: 1. With a Mixer connected into the Base Station

will it still allow me to use the panning on the mixer?

2. If so, will it show in the DAW software?

in my case(tracktion)

3.will the mixer pan settings be transformed, to be panned the way the Onyx is intentionally panned with the DAW

regardless of what the pan settings are in the mixer? (bad wording)

But you guys get me me right?

Hope this makes sense.

Yes you can still use the pan settings from the mixer if you record the output in stereo. But instead of a mixer, why not look at an interface that has more than 2 inputs? Then you dont loose the ability to change the tracks (pan eq effects volume) independently after they are tracked. For the price of a decent mixer, you can get a pretty good 8 channel firewire interface for the drums. I use a presonus firepod for my drums.

ima borrow a mixer. No money for a mixer nor presonus firepod

those do look nice though!
