Hi All,

I came across this site today which is offering online mixing and backing tracks. Has anyone used the service before. It looks pretty good and the price seems good but wondered if anyone else had used them before I hand over my cash.

the site is www.remixit.co.uk

Cheers

Site looks pathetic, for one... Multiple typos and the layout is pretty bad.

Two, the pricing isn't that great... There are plenty of people on this site who will mix your sessions for $35 an hour or so... and some who will do it for free. Not on "pro" equipment, but the equipment doesn't matter much, it's the person using it.

Hi,

So you don't think I should bother then? :)

Out of interest I thought it was quite cheap - you say people will do mixes here for $35 an hour - how many hours would they need to spend on it to get a great mix? I would have thought at least 3 maybe that would be $115 so no real saving. I was comparing their service to mixinthebox I think it was called and they were a lot more expensive.

Cheers

I would love to have all that gear!!! LOL

How can I get in touch with the people who will mix my project for free? Or does anybody know of any other places where you can get your stuff mixed for a good price online. My local studio's are all around 20quid an hour and they only really have portastudios?

I know, it's like...the site is in the UK, they do speak English in the UK last time I checked...why are there all these typos and weird sentences (if you need your stuff mixing quicker"...

That's not a good sign

Why not learn how to mix yourself? That's what this site is for! ;)

Otherwise I would find someone reputable on this board, or someone local to you. It would be a lot cheaper to do it yourself though...

Hi,

A friend recommended this site to me and after reading various threads I might just try and get all the info I need from here and have a go myself before I pay anybody else to do it.

Cheers

Good call. :)

It takes some time and practice though so don't expect professional results overnight. ;)

Ask them for some samples of what they have done.
No mention of any rack gear.
They dont list any mics or pres.

Anyone who uses a PT HD system and lists OZONE at the top of the plug list is silly. And....where are all the mics and outboard gear that they record these great drum tracks with? On my modest website, I make sure to list my best gear first, not my crappy plugs! I would really want to hear some samples before I sent someone money (or raw tracks for that matter).

You morons amaze me sometimes.
American english and English english have different spellings.

"if your not happy with"

and they don't use contractions for you're

etc...

Whatever! At least our teeth are white and straight! :p

That equipment list is nothing to brag about. It's a ProTools system with a bunch of plugins.

There's a couple big warning flags. One, there are no audio demos on the site so you can hear their work. This is unbelievable coming from people that want to mix your music. Two, they are offering to mix just the drums or just the vocals for your song. This is a *huge* warning flag, as neither of those are elements that you want to mix in isolation from the rest of the tracks. Just drums, and not the bass? Completely wrong.

It's an interesting idea, but I personally wouldn't go near these people at this point. There is no name, no address, no phone number, no pictures so you can see these people and their studio, no demos of past work, and the odd offerings of mixing just a vocal or drum track. It's your money, but it seems like you would really be risking getting something back that wasn't worth it.

No names, no numbers, and no references. Any "studio" that does not say who actually pilots the sessions, does not give any way to contact them other than a general delivery e-mail - i.e. is totally anonymous - and does not offer up any references whatsoever is on the same level as any plumber, car mechanic, dentist or lawyer operating under the same conditions.

Would you hire any of those services anonymously and without references? And before you say that those are more important professions, your money doesn't know that.

Hell, they don't even have a business bank account. You're sending you're money to who knows who, located at who knows where, with no real way to contact them. and no real safety net. Just how does that differ from a Nigerian inheritance scam?

By all means, give them a try!

I have a bridge for sale, anyone interested? Has a great view... ;)

There goes that stupid term again.

"Online mixing."

Oh jeez, don't get me started. I'm already about ready to punch someone.

A guy mixes stuff. And he has a web site. So now, all of a sudden it's "online mixing." I can't stomach this any longer. I'm going to go start an "online restaurant." You can upload your lunch order, and I'll email you a JPEG of your food. It's the new way.
