I’ve mentioned my old best friend Billy Cheek a few times. He was 1st runner-up for the lead guitar position in the 70’s band called ‘Boston’. They told him he was the best guitarist, but the other guy could sing better. He won a ton of equipment at a radio show contest in Hollywood by playing non-stop for 7 days. He came in 3rd place on that one. That’s where he won his most excellent custom Strat which was stolen between sets in some sleazy San Bernardino bar. He was in a band called ‘War Horse’ which was getting air play in the SF bay area until he suffered a broken blood vessel in his brain at the old age of 27, which left him basically a cripple with half of his memory gone. It was an inherited affliction from his dad. His arm was curled up and unusable for even holding a guitar. Before that catastrophe he recorded this piece one drunken night while sitting in the middle of our floor, which was basically a 10 x 10 foot room where we slept, drank, smoked pot, and played music. He used a little plastic practice amp and a sony tape recorder mic into a cheap Sony reel to reel which was bounced to a cassette which I have carried all over the place. He actually recorded the lead part first. There’s a small dropout where the oxide has fallen off the tape. I probably have it on reel to reel, but it would take a year to find it.

Time Clock Boogie.

...and a sketch of 'Only in Dreams' I did a couple of weeks ago, but lost interest in because I came up with a new one which I'm losing interest in because I'm coming up with a new one, etc. I encoded at 56K so it's a bit garbled, sort of like dreams.

This guy had some nice chops. Too bad about his medical problems. Is he still around?

How can a song rock without drums????????

I dont know but this sure did! That was cool for many reasons.

It's really sad because the guy was born to be a guitarist. That's 'ALL' he ever did or could do. He even had the perfect bone structure in his hands. There were times when he would sit up all night learning classical violin riffs note for note. He's still around but can't play any more. He lost a lot of memories as well. Makes ya want to cry, me anyways. My other 2 best friends died completely. I had 3 best friends. I can't really say any one of them was my 'best' friend. They all 3 were just my only real close friends. It's fucked because when they all bit the dust, 3 big parts of me bit the dust. I can't get together with them and talk about old times. All that's left is what I remember in my own mind, and a few tapes. I'm looking for something from Freddy and Sunshine to post.

Oh my.....monty is out of the Cave.....Who let him out? Run everyone :D

Cool stuff monty man................That was some pretty sick riffage......especially that harmonic thing that he did occasionally in between the lines of the verse...Wicked Cool

I listen to those other one's later (that is as long as you don't go into your "thread dictator" mode and delete them off of there :D) i'm on 56K right now, it takes forever...........Anyway that was cool stuff dude.......Glad to see you posting some tunes......Maybe it will rub off on me
