One mic for many things on a $100 budget

I've started looking for a mic since I'm sick and tired of the borrowed dynamic piece of crap I have now. I'll mainly be recording vocals and acoustic guitar but there will be other instruments like piano, some percussion, guitar and bass amps, maybe some flute and more. I'm basically looking for a jack of all trades and I'm well aware that it means compromises. So is it doable for around $100?

I saw a Rode M3 for a great price at a local store and it seems to be getting good reviews. Is it something worth going for?

I have a M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro USB interface so phantom power is available. It also means not the best preamps around so I'm looking for something that's good enough.

On stage ONLY? In studio ONLY? Not that there's much choice on that budget. SM57 / SM58. Maybe both if you buy used. Beyond that mics can be very application specific, especially in that price range.

$100. ??????????????????? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm well yes and no.
But you are aware of the compromises.
Save just a bit more and you'll be just that better off.

I do like shadows thought on purchasing both a 57 and a 58 used to keep on a budget.

Or cash and something else on your end in trade for a very special microphone.

It will be studio only and by studio I mean my bedroom. If I ever go on stage I'll buy a SM58 but that's not happening anytime soon.

Then the MXL V67g is $89. all day long on the the internet sales.

Can't find it in any of the local music stores. I can only find the V67N that seems to be a small diaphragm mic. Living in Sweden has it downsides it seems.

Oh you should put your location in your bio, for in some countries I know certain microphone manufacturers aren't even available or are extremely expensive.
Is that the problem as well if your living in Sweden ... that if you purchase on the internet you pay high taxes and import fees?

Can you ask your local music store to order one or is that just as expensive?

Guess I should.
If I import a mic and customs find it they will ask me to pay tax for it. I would also prefer to buy locally in case there's any problems. I've had bad luck with electronics in the past.
I did find an sE X1 large diaphragm condenser for a very good price. I did a bit of googling and found a couple of reviews that were positive so I might end up buying one of those.

The sE X1 is an exultant entry level LDC it has both low end roll off and pad switches. ;)
