Bump! This song is #6 in Southern Rock at Soundclick. I'm about to do a remix and edit the slide guitar. Can anybody give me any direction?

OK, I think this is the third version of this song I've heard. I'll be honest, I really liked version 2 better. It had a really retro Jethro Tull sound to it before, now with the slide guitar part, I'm not sure. Is it 70's Tull, or 90's folk? I think it's too much. The slide guitar part is OK for the intro, but once the vocals start, I think it just muddies things up. The cool flat picking guitar is harder to hear, and it draws attention away from the cool flute, harp interplay. That's just my opinion. I still like the song, I just think now there's too many instruments competing for my ears.

Yeah, there is a lot going on...I like how the slide transforms later on to approaching statesboro blues territory, but I think I agree with g z that maybe there is too much instrumental competition during the vocal passages. I would like to hear one instrument brought forward more consistantly when you're not singing and maybe a little less going on when you are.

But it is cool nonetheless. The lyrics are highly entertaining. You gotta like the fact that you worked ping pong in there...:p

You have a lot to say on a variety of topics and your arrangements are very intricate.

Thanks much, zero, for your honesty. Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I think the same way. I want to keep the slide, but not all of it the way I used it.

I think I know what direction to take it now.;)

Thanks very much, heat. You and zero confirmed what I was thinking and I will strip this down a bit, hopefully saving what works and ditching any vampires that are sucking the life out of it. I appreciate your comments.;)

I agree with the others about that slide guitar. It's just too much.
