Ok, so i just learned an old standard tune, and I thought I'd make a quick instrumented recording of it, allowing me to use new toys of mine like my Space Echo and my 1964 rogers drumkit! Anyway, one thing lead to another, and I now have what i think is a pretty impressive recording on my hands. Keep in mind that i'm a 60's head, and i gravitate towards cutting sub frequencies, and eq'ing a little edgier than usual, hard panning, and the like. But yeah, check it out.

You'll Never Walk Alone

Everything recorded on protools using a 1970's Sony C38b large condenser, and an ART Tube MP cheapo pre. Reverbs/ Delay are Roland Space Echo, Traynor TR-2 reverb (the vocals are stock digi verb:() Drums recorded one mic, with a EV 664 under the snare into the echo unit. I know it's hissy, but that's cause I'm using old, dirty, and partially broken equipment. The Sony mic is the best mic I've ever heard, but the previous owner gave it it good use and abuse, the trade off is that it hisses a lot. I played everything myself/ sang it, haha, so go easy on me.

Rough recording...you've got talent for singing though...and playing in general...it's loud...hot...sounds like a wonderful performance though...outstanding singing

I just listened to this 5 times in a row...it sounds really good at low volumes...like a classic record...if you like all the old classic sounds then you maybe shouldn't record or mix it so loud. When I turn it up it really assaults the ears...anyway...just my thoughts. Great, great performance.

Too hot? I'll definitely keep it in mind, I just try and get it to the same volume as the mp3's I have. But that's a good point! I'll try to mix it quieter.

Also, why is it a rough recording, just'd like to know what would make it better.

You said it yourself...there's hiss and you used old dirty equipment...which may or may not give it some classic charm...but yeah...when I turned media player up to around 7 or 8...or even 6...it was just too loud...for me. It was much more pleasant at about 2 or 3/ 10 on the volume scale. If you're into older sounding stuff then maybe you don't have to aim for such hot/ loud levels. Again...it's a great performance
