Never Act Like U Know All
I just purchased what was advertised on a certain music gear website as an "Access Virus Classic Tabletop Synth for $599.99" so I took it as the Virus C L A S S I C the revised version of a Virus b/c.

I got a Virus A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG !

I dont know whether to send it back or keep it as both the Virus A and the Virus Classic are extremely hard to come by these days!

Man I dont know what to do. Really. I was playing around with it. Grant, It's a Virus A, a bit old, but it really does shine, and has alot of potential.

I have not played around with either the A or Classic. I've just done my research on all of them and realized I wanted a Virus Classic.

All in all, what would you do? I know the Virus A gets good reviews, and like I said playing around with it, it's pretty cool, but man oh man I'm STEAMING !

Nuf said.

What would you do? Keep the Virus A or send it back?

Oh btw, the only virtal analog I already have is a Roland JP-8080.

Is it a pest to send things back? You know what internet companies are like.

Is the unit past its return-by date?

Do you actually enjoy your unit?

Do the reviews for the other unit make it seem sufficiently superior to yours?

All in all, though, if you've been sent what you don't want you're entitled to its replacement. End Of.

A virus Classic is a reworked Virus B not an A. If you got an A advertised as a classic you got ripped off, the B has more polyphony and one more oscillator after firmware upgrades.

I would send it back and get at least a B or your money back.. or if you like the unit ask em to mail you back $150 to keep it. :o

You can pick up virus "a" racks on ebay for around $400 usually

Good point. I will call them and ask them for the difference to be applied to my credit card just to see how hard they laugh. Althouight the point is - false advertising.

Depending on the results of my phone converation, I will post the name of the chain of music stores in the northeast I bought it from - not to be snippy, just to let you know who they are so YOU dont get screwed like I did.

I did play the thing, and it is nice.

It only have 2 oscillators for access directly on the knobs, HOWEVER - it does have a 3rd oscilator hidden in the menu.

Polyphony is no biggy for be, because if I rub out, i'll dump them to audio tracks. Plus I have a roland jp-8080.

I just dont like being lied to.

I plan on buying a certain FM Synth in the morning I've been looking for a while now.

PS. I am so happy to have another really good sounding VA.

I'm thinking about buying a korg MS2000 for fat bass lines, and a yamaha motif es rack and I'm DONE for a long time to come.

With the amount of gear I have, my wife will kill me if I buy aything else.

LOL

Do I like it?

Guess the big question you have to ask yourself is, "Do I like it $599.99, worth? While I agree that false advertising is a BIG no no, the person you bought it from might not have known the difference. If however, you think they knowingly ripped you off, by all means go for your money back! There are different consumer protection agencies that will help you, or at least give them a "Blak Eye". Rock on.

Well, after playing with it alot, and downloading about 2724 patches for the Virus A off the internet, loading them into Sounddiver and filtering out doubles, it left me with 2456 patches that are VERY sweet ! It's not what I wanted, I wanted the Virus CLassic, but I think I'll keep it anyway. Yeah it's a bit steep, but it is bad azz.

I've only just begun my Virus patch hunt, I'm more than sure there alot more than what I've found out there.

Considering I've downloaded 3700 something patches for my jv-1080
