I've always wanted an Ernie Ball EVH, but due to my strict budget, I've never been able to afford one. So I picked up an OLP MM1 a while back with the intent of making my own "EVH". Okay, so the wood may be cheap, and the electronics may really suck, but I really like the unfinshed neck, the overall look, and the challenge of turning this thing into a true shredder. I'm looking into a Floyd Rose and new pickups now. Has anyone here ever installed a Floyd on one of these guitars? If so, what should I look for? Are there any direct replacements that I can use to avoid additional routing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ~

Hey Zoom'n - I have an OLP MM1. The thing I liked about it was how the neck feels also. That and it weighs way less than my Strat...

Anyway I've put a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the Neck, changed the volume pot, put in a coil tap switch, changed the pickup selector, put new machine heads on it, put a hip shot on the E, and replaced the nut with a custom made Ivory one.

If you do anything to it I would recommend changing the nut. Since that was done for me that thing refuses to go out of tune !

Cheers !

Go man go!

Taking a junker and modding it is true EVH style!

I've never put one on of these but this might help.

floyd rose routing templates

The one I did required that I fill in the old bridge hole first so I could reroute. Lame. Hope you have an easier time.

Good luck, have fun.

Thanks Boingoman, but your link doesn't work (?)

Also ... there are so many variations of the Floyd Rose tremelo now, I'm not sure where to start and what to look for. Is the template for the "original" Floyd?

Thanks Again ~

Whoopsie-you are right. Just go to floydrose.com and click on instructions. The templates for all the models are there.
