"oldschool" Death-Metal.

So, we got a band. It's called "Coprolith".

It's a baby of the guitar-singer-composer, lately a good friend of mine. I play bass in two of his bands, We're starting out a third. But this is his "heartblood"-so to speak. We've been recording a demo of some six songs, this is the "slow"-one, mandatory... :D
The mix is from the singer.

..I love the voice. :)
Drums are down in the mix, because the drummer sucks. The bass is audible, because I'm physically the biggest.
How's the mix otherwise?..

Where's the track stored? It's a forever buffer job and the first few seconds hasn't any music so that's time wasted!
Doom laden little piece. I like the chord sequence & the feel but the vocals are, well, funny as in ha ha.
 
The track is at my personal web space, hence maybe a bit slöw, please don't let that bother.. Idle space in start of track is there because of the click-track, got to remember to cut those off! :)
 
I like the melodic side of the song along with it's heavy driven bass.

The intro is excellent.

The singer must go. :eek: I love this kind of music...I don't like screaming of this kind much though...but I gotta say, this screaming is not very good screaming. Unfortunately he sounds more comical, than doomsday. Not trying to insult the guy, just trying to be honest.

uhhh... singer will stay, he writes the songs. Dunno how I'll brake this to him... :) His band, I'm just in it for the bass. And always liked that vocal sound, and will, just my crooked taste huh?.. :)

I'll need more critique so I can influence the outcome.
Is the timing as off as I think it is?
Sounds?..we could re-track something..
 
The vocalist isn't bad, he'd just be a lot better if he practiced control and didn't lose his breath at the end of some lines, then he kind of squeaks and that sounds ridiculous.
I like his delivery overall.

The drums should be a bit more punchy and clicky in the mix. I can't hear anything more than a faint thump from the kick drum. Drummer sucking isn't an excuse, he's not that bad. If the drummer makes major mistakes they should be fixed.

The drums REALLY need to come up on that second tune. there may be timing issues here and there, but you know, such things are not so difficult to fix in a multitrack environment..
 
I love death metal, but for recording purposes these vox need work.

I remember seeing Glen Benton on dvd recording the vox to their latest.
All vocal lines were recorded LINE BY LINE! Sing a sentence, take a break...etc....
